Debt Education About Creditors and Collectors
Your original creditors and collectors reserve the right to contact you regarding any debts that you may owe to them.   There are limitations of course restricting how often they can call you, where they can call you, when they can call you, and the process by which they can do so.  The limitation imposed on the creditors and collectors is done so through the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

Fair Debt Collection

The Federal Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) is the set of rules that collectors and creditors are asked to comply with when proceeding with the collection of a debt.  Get familiar with your rights, and know when they have been violated.  There are many options available for a consumer whose rights have been violated under the FDCPA.

Handling Creditor Calls A quick way to reduce some of the collection calls you receive is to send a letter directly from you to the creditor. You may still continue to receive calls, however, continue to screen your calls, let them go to your answering machine or use your caller ID. You don’t need to pick up the phone when the collectors are calling. They reserve the right to call you, but they don’t reserve the right to harass you, or cause undue stress in your life.

Financira has come up with other methods for existing clients to manage calls and report harassing creditors, if you are a client and are interested in attempting to receive some relief on the collection efforts from your creditors, call your customer service representative
